Cincinnati Cyclones get blown away by the Toledo Walleye

The Toledo Walleye continued their winning streak tonight on the road, topping the Cincinnati Cyclones with a commanding 5-2 win at the U.S. Bank Arena.  Toledo was outshot 39 to 19 in the game, but strong goaltending and quality shots by the Walleye pulled out their fourth win in as many games, all within five days.

While the Cyclones were first to get on the board with a backhand shot by Barret Ehgoetz to best Toledo netminder Alec Richards six minutes into the game, the first period was all Walleye. Starting at the 7:35 mark, Toledo scored three unanswered goals to take a commanding 3-1 lead.

Just after the opening Cyclones goal, a small fight broke out, sending Toledo’s Mike Hedden and Cincinnati’s Hans Benson to the penalty boxes for fighting majors. Benson was given an additional penalty for instigating to allow the Walleye the man advantage…
