While it took a while to get find his rhythm, Jordan Pearce proved his skill with the Toledo Walleye as of late, posting five-consecutive wins and a .937 save percentage in the last seven games. His phenomenal play was highlighted last night as he narrowly missed a shutout against the Kalamazoo Wings.
On the season, Pearce has a 8-8-1 record with the Walleye, stopping 89.2 percent of shots and allowing 3.52 goals against. He will backup netminder Daniel Larsson as the Griffins visit the Rockford IceHogs, another Toledo Walleye AHL affiliate, tonight.
Following his first-round draft selection in 2008 by the Detroit Red Wings, Thomas McCollum split the 2008-09 season between the Guelph Storm and the Brampton Battalion in the Ontario Hockey League. His second OHL All-Star selection soon followed as did a call-up to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
McCollum has played in 14 games with the Griffins this season, splitting them evenly with seven wins and seven losses. He posted a .877 save percentage and averaged 3.42 goals against per game.
The Walleye are on the road tonight as they complete their home-and-home series with the Kalamazoo Wings. McCollum is likely to start as the Walleye look to rebound from their painful last-minute loss at the hands of the K-Wings last night.
