As the Toledo Walleye continue on the second half of their inaugural 2009-10 season, the team has several upcoming events for fans to come out and meet their favorite players and enjoy games at the beautiful Lucas County Arena.

Coming up this Thursday, fans are invited out to the Claddagh Irish Pub at the Westfield Franklin Park Mall. Fans and official mascot Spike will be on hand to meet fans, sign autographs and take photos between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. The event is free and open to all ages.

The Walleye are home this weekend to host the Trenton Devils on Friday and Saturday then the Charlotte Checkers on Sunday. The weekend will feature a variety of promotions each night. Friday is Happy Birthday Elvis night with a post-game party in the club level lounge, Saturday night features a youth hockey clinic, scout sleepover and Ballreichs Chips giveaway, while Sunday is Mascot Mania and kid’s night at the Lucas County Arena.

As a special treat to kids and adults attending Sunday’s game, the second intermission will include a dodgeball competition with local team mascots. Spike and CatTrick will be in the building along with Muddy, Muddonna and Muddevious from the Toledo Mud Hens, the Frickin’ Chicken from Frickers, mascots from Lourdes College, the University of Findlay and Owens Community College and special guests from Wendy’s and Vito’s Pizza. Mascots will also be on hand around the concourse for photos during the first intermission.

Looking ahead a bit, tickets are still available for the Fandemonium Sticks & Mitts event at the Lucas County Arena on January 20, 2010. The evening features a buffet dinner, live auction and special guests including members of the Detroit Tigers, Toledo Mud Hens and Toledo Walleye. Tickets vary from $20 seats which include the buffet dinner and dining with a baseball or hockey celebrity to general admission tickets for $8 for all of the post-dinner events.

While they’ve yet to win their first game in the new year, the Walleye are very much in playoff contention with a 34-17-13 record. Their third-place position in the American North Division is just three points out of firstĀ  behind the Cincinnati Cyclones and two points behind the second place Kalamazoo Wings.
